Lots for Tots

Beth Wheatley
Owner of Lots for Tots and Host of Lets Talk Tots
Hi, I’m Beth – wife to Alex and mum to Elijah & Ezra – so I’m no stranger to the Derby parenting scene! Over the years, Lots for Tots has been my go-to guide for discovering activities, events, and those much-needed coffee spots where little ones are welcome.
As the owner of Lots for Tots Derbyshire, I’m passionate about making the magazine the very best it can be – championing local businesses, supporting families, and creating a real sense of community for families across Derbyshire. In 2025, we’re proud to be opening our very own nursery – Lots for Tots Childcare Hilton – with exciting plans to expand even further into other parts of Derbyshire. I’m also thrilled to be growing our Lots for Tots Awards, celebrating the amazing people, places and services that make family life in Derbyshire so special. It’s a joy to be part of so many families’ journeys – and there’s so much more to come!

Laura Jonas
Lots for Tots Leicestershire Editor
Hello, I’m wife to 1, and mum to 4 little ones aged from 9-1.. so I’m pretty well versed in all things tots (if that’s a thing?! I’m definitely still learning things 4th time round). As well as being a mum, I also own a small design business, working around the children.
After baby number 4, I know all too well the importance of interaction with other mums and children. For making the most of the precious time, for the giving and receiving of advice, and for the MUCH needed support. Both myself and my children have made lifelong friends from the way we used our time in the younger years, so it’s a joy to facilitate that love and support for others through Lots for Tots!

Amanda Jones
Nursery Manager
Hi, Im Amanda and I head up the Lots for Tots Childcare divison. I’ve always had a passion for working in early years and supporting children as they grow, learn, and thrive.
With over 15 years in the childcare industry, I’ve dedicated my career to creating nurturing environments where children feel safe, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. My passion for childcare led me to start my own business, Mini Minding Events, providing bespoke childcare for weddings and special occasions. When I learned that Lots for Tots was expanding into childcare, I knew it was something special to be a part of. Their values align perfectly with mine—creating a warm, welcoming space where children can flourish and where staff feel valued, supported and part of a team that truly makes a difference. I’m excited to lead a team that shares this vision, working together to provide outstanding care and education in those crucial early years.

Christopher Wainwright
App Designer
Hi, I’m Chris, a third-year Computer Science student at the University of Nottingham.
In my second year at university, I was part of a year-long group project, developing an app for Lots for Tots. After finishing my second year, I have continued working on the application part-time, preparing it for its mobile release later this year.
Beyond code, music plays a big part in my life. I’m an active member of the University of Nottingham’s A Cappella Society and this year I’ve taken on the role of vocal percussionist (beatboxer) for one of our four competitive groups: RadioOctave. I also enjoy singing as well as playing piano and double bass. Working on the app has been a rewarding experience, knowing that it will help parents find the best activities and support for their little ones. I’m excited to see it launch and make a real difference for families across the UK!

Emily Edwards
Cohost of Lets Talk Tots
I’m Emily, Wife and Mum of 2. Since having my boys, Teddy & Rocco, my time mainly consists of anything outdoors; lots of walks, parks & bike riding practice & the conversations in our house usually contain some form of toilet humour or are superhero, food or slime related.
I worked in childcare for 12 years, before leaving the industry in 2020, when Teddy was 18 months & taking a part time job within the NHS, allowing me to spend more time at home. Subsequently that is where Beth & I met & soon realised we had a very similar sense of humour & laid back personality. After a short 6 months working together, we have stuck together ever since, with our youngest boys being born just 14 weeks apart, we have attempted to keep each other sane whilst navigating our way through the chaos of parenting our collective brood of 4 crazy boys all under school age.
